New Single "Safe in Silence"

NEW SINGLE 'SAFE IN SILENCE' OUT ON ITUNES JULY 21!

SINGLE LAUNCH SHOWS:

- July 29 Upstarts @ Spectrum (Syd) w/ Rapids and Brain Slaves

- Aug 14 Rocket Bar w/ Dangerous! (Adl)

Purchase presale tickets for Rocket Bar here - First show back for the year, will sell out!!

Former Child Stars have been busy boys since relocating to Sydney earlier this year. Fresh off the back of national tours with Madness (UK) and Faker, residencies at Oxford Art Factory and Spectrum and nearly 40 shows since moving to the Harbour City earlier this year, the five lovable rogues are launching their new Single, Safe in Silence at Spectrum (Sydney) and Rocket Bar (Adelaid) this July/August.

Former Child Stars' glitzy new single, Safe in Silence, was self produced and recorded at the iconic HotHouse Studio, St Kilda. It's a true progression of sound for the band, harnessing a more lush and melodic soundscape while still maintaining the driving, danceable beat and infectious hooks that they are known and loved for.

Safe in Silence is out July 21st through iTunes. Preview the new Single on Myspace here!

Beat Magazine Q&A: Former Child Stars vs. Fearless Vampire Killers

Check out this rather enlightening and hard hitting expose in Melbourne Street Press, Beat.

The Fearless Vampire Killers Questions – Former Child Stars Answers
What are your tour plans for the rest of 09
We are releasing a new single, "Safe in Silence" in July. So we will be playing a lot of shows including a tour or two to promote it. Although we are playing a lot, our main priority is writing at the moment, with the aim of going into the studio at the end of the year to record a kick-arse debut album.
How has the band developed since the move from Adelaide?
We are completely more dysfunctional now. This city eats us alive and we can hardly stand each other anymore. So yeah.... really happy with the move!
If you were going to play a game of paint ball against any 3 people who would they be?
We have pretty poor aim so probably Ian Hewitson, Mikey Robins, that fat judge with the scarf from Master Chef.
Who are your top 3 favourite Australian bands?
The Scare are genius and their new album is f*ing amazing. We love Melbourne bands Skye Harbour and Deja Entendu. Dangerous! from Adelaide will rock your haircuts off!
Any Former Child Porn Stars?
No! That's very inappropriate. Child Porn is highly illegal and frowned upon in this country. However we do have a fairly incriminating photo of Luke with a mangina.
Which native Australian flora best repsents your music?
Archirhodomyrtus beckleri
1919 Bolshezik Reveolution was an ineveitable histroic development, Discuss.
The Bolsheviks believed in organizing the party in a strongly centralized hierarchy that sought to overthrow the Tsar and achieve power. Although the Bolsheviks were not completely monolithic, they were characterized by a rigid adherence to the leadership of the central committee, based on the notion of democratic centralism. The Mensheviks favored open party membership and espoused cooperation with the other socialist and some non-socialist groups in Russia. Bolsheviks generally refused to co-operate withliberal or radical parties (which they labeled "bourgeois") or even eventually other socialist organisations, although Lenin sometimes made tactical alliances.
Animal, Mineral or Vegetable?
I was just thinking about that this morning actually. I decided mineral, for obvious reasons
Would you finger your arsehole in public for 10k?
Have and will. Would be great to do it for money next time.
Based on last week, who is the most irritating drunk fearless vampire killer?
It was kind of hard to tell, they all passed out after two VB's

Former Child Stars Questions – The Fearless Vampire Killers Answers
Having recently toured Sydney, how would you compare it's scene to back home?
Jupiter doesn't really have much of a scene. Not since swine flu.
Do you think Fearless are well suited to the Melbourne scene?
Yes.
Is it really full of 'hard-arse, glass throwing punters' like you say? And should we be scared?
Yes.
You've played some pretty big festivals and supports. Which was your favourite so far?
Little Red because of the crazed underage kids and the Hives because it was our first gig.
What band would you really like to support, if you had a choice?
The Pussycat Dolls because they're really amazing musicians.
I've noticed you guys wear some pretty cool clothes... do you think your better than me?
You know, when I was young and used to travel in the season with my uncles to the French Alps, we would stop at a pretty little restaurant high on the mountains and gaze across at the delicious ridges. I've never been so happy... Do you know, I've never been to Italy?
You've got a cool sound. What music did you listen to growing up?
Chuck Berry, Neil Young, The Beatles, The Stones, Avril, The Spice Girls, Michael Jackson, Cat Stevens, Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Nirvana, Eminem, Fiddy Cent, Walt Disney, Jesus Christo Superstar, The Gun Club, Hoolie Doolies, BABBA, ABBA, Bjorn Again (sometimes)
So, were you always hippies, or are you rebelling against your strict family upbringing?
We eat too much beef jerkey and shoot guns too much to be hippies. I'm chewing on my belt right now. Did you know that we haven't even been to New Zealand?! What's with that?
Why would someone empty a tin of dog food into our letterbox, and write slanderous comments in chalk on footpath outside of our house..?
Oh, that's a common mistake. It's just possums. They get a little rowdy this time of year. That, and Swine Flu.
Your myspace states that you are both "a hot surfy blues rock band" and "four handsome young men". Do you find that being really good looking helps in the music industry?
No, but blatant lies help.
Sorry we didnt have enough beds when you crashed at our place the other week... Did you still sleep ok? What do you think of the place?
Yeah, thanks guys, it was real generous and we're appreciative of your genorosity. How nuts was it when you pulled out that huge bag of powder and called that 1900 number?! You know you got Dylan our drummer excited and he got lost in King Cross looking for pills and strippers?! And that was all before 10pm!! I can't remember whether we slept or not but it was definitely a respectable evening.
